Century and Partners Break Ground on Supportive Homes for Veterans
Century Housing celebrated the groundbreaking of several new residences on the West Los Angeles VA North Campus on June 27th, alongside our partners in The Veterans Collective (Thomas Safran & Associates and U.S.VETS), The Core Companies, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles. These communities will provide 374 permanent supportive homes for Veterans and their families. Of those, Century is developing Buildings 156, 157, and 404, which collectively will provide 182 homes for Veterans who struggle with mental health issues, have experienced chronic homelessness, or are ineligible for VA health care services.
This week’s groundbreaking ceremony marks another milestone: To date, more than half of the 1,200 units to which The Veterans Collective committed are under construction or open. Century and our partners in The Veterans Collective are dedicating to fulfilling the original vision for the campus, deeded by the Bandini family in 1887 for the establishment of an Old Soldiers’ Home (a type of institution which led to the creation of the VA).
