Building 404 Brings New Homes for Veterans at West LA VA

Patrick (white baseball cap) and Robert (red sleeves) meet with Century’s property management team on their move-in day.
The transformation of the West Los Angeles VA campus continues with the opening of Building 404, a new permanent supportive housing community developed by Century Affordable Development, Inc. This 73-home community is made possible through The Veterans Collective—a partnership between Century, U.S.VETS, and Thomas Safran & Associates—reflecting a shared commitment to building a neighborhood where veterans can truly thrive.
U.S.VETS provides on-site wraparound services, while Century’s property management team ensures day-to-day support and connection. Century Property Manager Christina Alvarado and Director of Property Management Marisa Hoffman are among the staff welcoming residents as they move in, helping them get settled and feel at home.
For the new tenants, the transition marks a powerful moment:
“I’m feeling like I’ve been through a long journey and I’m finally at the end of the road—and I’m ecstatic to be here,” said Robert, a U.S. Army veteran.
“I’m overwhelmed. I’m very grateful, very happy to be here—thank you so much,” shared Patrick, a U.S. Navy veteran.
Building 404 includes outdoor courtyards, bicycle storage, a classroom, fitness room, and other community spaces that foster connection and healing. It’s one of several developments that Century and its partners are bringing to the West LA VA campus, helping transform it into the nation’s largest supportive community for veterans.
As Century marks its 30th anniversary, projects like this reflect our ongoing commitment to building homes that restore stability, dignity, and opportunity.
