Century Community Fund Partners with CRCD to Support South LA Youth
Century’s mission to make affordable housing accessible for more Californians—through financing, development, and operations—underscores our basic goal: to create stronger communities where everyone can thrive.
The Century Community Fund (CCF) extends our core business by supporting community-based organizations and students from low-income backgrounds. “It’s important that we not only focus on the housing itself, but the individuals who benefit from affordable housing,” said Beulah Ku, Chief Strategy Officer at Century Housing. “CCF offers resources to help up-and-coming leaders realize their dreams.”

This year, Century contributed $25,000 to the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) to fund scholarships. Twenty-five students in two of CRCD’s workforce development programs, CRCD Academy and Project Tipping Point, each received $1,000 to help offset the financial challenges of pursuing their educational and career goals.
Aylyn Q., a first-generation high school graduate and former CRCD Academy student who graduated in June, is now attending American Medical Sciences Center College to pursue a career in healthcare. “My educational goal is to be a sonographer, a career that combines my passion for healthcare with the opportunity to help others through diagnostic imaging,” she wrote. “This scholarship would not only help me financially, it would also allow me to focus on my studies by easing tuition and related expenses, allowing me to focus fully on my education. Pursuing higher education is not just a personal goal, it’s a way to honor my parents’ sacrifices and break barriers for future generations.”
Christopher D., a Project Tipping Point student at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, is pursuing an associate in science degree in electrical construction and maintenance while working full time and supporting his peers as a student advocate. “My aspiration to become a certified electrician stems from a deep-seated interest in understanding and working with electrical systems,” he wrote. “This scholarship will alleviate the financial burdens associated with my education… and allow me to invest in the tools and resources that are crucial in my development as an electrician. It represents more than financial assistance—it’s an investment toward my future and a betterment of the communities I will serve.”
“Programs like CRCD’s remind us that housing is just the beginning,” added Beulah Ku. “When we invest in the people who live in affordable housing—whether through education, training, or support—we help communities thrive for generations.”
