Affordable Development With Local Roots

For decades, Century has been at the forefront of mission-driven affordable housing development, tracing its origins back to our early days as a state agency.

Now, Century Affordable Development, Inc. (CADI) carries forward our legacy of development. Our experience in fostering collaborative, service-enriched communities like Century Villages at Cabrillo guides our efforts in promoting hope and healing throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

West Los Angeles VA Campus

Signature, campus-based community for formerly homeless veterans

Located on the West Los Angeles VA campus in the Brentwood neighborhood, this signature, large-scale community represents one of the most ambitious efforts in the nation to address veteran homelessness. Century Housing, in partnership with Thomas Safran & Associates and U.S.VETS, formed the West LA Veterans Collective to pursue the development of a minimum of 1,200 homes for homeless and at-risk veterans on the 200-acre West LA VA North Campus. In 2019, the Collective was selected by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to serve as principal developer of the site.

The West LA Veterans Collective is responsible for the long-term planning, development, renovation, and operation of this nationally significant campus. Century Housing currently has three projects completed, one additional project under construction, and additional phases in predevelopment. Together, Century and its partners are advancing the largest single coordinated effort to house homeless veterans in the United States, creating a stable, service-rich community designed to support dignity, recovery, and long-term housing stability.

Century Villages at Cabrillo

A nationally recognized, integrated community serving veterans and families

Century Villages at Cabrillo (CVC) is a comprehensive, campus-style residential community established to break the cycle of homelessness for veterans, families, and individuals. Located on a former 27-acre U.S. Naval housing site, CVC is now home to more than 1,500 residents living in a mix of transitional and permanent supportive housing. The community is widely recognized as a national model for public-private partnership and collective impact.

Founded in 1997, CVC was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization when the U.S. Department of Defense transferred the property under the McKinney Act for the purpose of serving people experiencing homelessness. Century serves as the backbone organization, coordinating collaboration among more than a dozen on-site service providers to ensure residents have access to housing, supportive services, and pathways to long-term stability.
